β-Carotene Powder Product Description
β-carotene (C40H56) is one of the carotenoids, an orange-yellow fat-soluble compound, which is the most ubiquitous and stable natural pigment in nature. Belongs to the family of natural chemicals such as carotenes or carotenoids. It is found in abundance in plants, giving fruits and vegetables their rich yellows and oranges. The appearance of pure product is red-purple to dark red crystalline powder with a slight peculiar odor. The dilute solution of β-carotene is orange-yellow, easily soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, and carbon disulfide. When the concentration of the solution increases, it will be orange, and may be slightly reddish due to the polarity of the solvent. It is unstable in the presence of oxygen, heat and light. It is more stable in weak bases.
